Degree Show Countdown

So, the Degree Show is looming and I thought it was about time to add some evidence of work i've been making for it (I actually have lots!). At the beginning of 4th year I was looking at religious icon art- in particular the composition, layout, 2 dimensional shapes and black outlines found in these pieces. I combined this genre with Hollywood film stars from what is considered to be the "Golden Age of Hollywood", and began to find my own 'visual language' that seemed to work well. I've been using permanent markers on parchment paper, which is similar to tracing paper, but thicker.
The plan at this stage is to make lots of the pieces, in a uniform size with a similar aesthetic, and display them all together for maximum impact (much like an iconostasis of religious icons) would be displayed.
Originally I planned to depict only film stars who are no longer with us, for the simple reason that they have remained iconic beyond their lifetime, much as real religious iconic art depicts posthumous images of Saints etc. However, I've included some stars who are still alive today because the images of them from their early careers are too good not to use.
The pictures i've included today are Arlene Dahl, Bette Davis and Humphrey Bogart.
